Port Melbourne is where the cruise ships come in on a regular basis. There is a tram just across from the terminal which takes tourists straight into the city. This area is fast becoming a popular place for apartment living with its views over the bay and the proximity to the city (around 5 minutes). From here you can see the Westgate Bridge to the right.
The "Spirit of Tasmania" is a vehicular ferry which sails daily from Melbourne, over Bass Strait to Devonport in Tasmania. When my granny was alive she told me about it being a bit of a "wild" trip crossing the Strait .. so guess what .. it's on my to do list. My sister has been to Tassie and said it was a beautiful place and lots of my friends say its a great place to drive around with lots of natural beauty, wineries and B&B's to stay at.
St Kilda has cleaned up its act a little bit. It was in the past a very well known red light district. Luna Park is just opposite the beach at St Kilda. There are the old St Kilda sea baths and bayside restaurants with views of the bay, perfect for a Sunday breakfast.
OMG we were only talking about Luna Park and The Wild Mouse Ride the other night at the pub with D and everyone when we were there for her birthday. That rickety old track turned me off roller coasters for life!! I LOVE St Kilda, just love it it holds so many memories.
