This Sunday on a Morning Walk

We went for a stroll this morning, a round trip of about two hours. It was a little cool to start with, but picking up the pace, we headed across the bridge to the north bank of the Yarra and down towards Federation Square and Birrarung Marr which has displays of contemporary and indigenous art.

A nice surprise was coming across the Ferrari Club Victoria 2009 Concours d’Elegance being held for the first time in Birrarung Marr; adjacent to Federation Square and the Yarra River. If you know my hubby, you will know he looooves cars! The Club will donate the proceeds of the 2009 Concours to Cystic Fibrosis Victoria. These cars are always in excellent condition. A veritable stable of Italian stallions, and then there were the proud owners of the vehicles.

Next, we walked up through Fed Square to Swanston Street seeing some pretty florist stands (ah the sweet perfume) and the resting horses that take tourists for buggy and carriage rides around the City. There was a also little theatre set up for the children near Town Hall where the Comedy Festival is running until the 26th of April. We popped down through some of the alleyways and laneways, which are full of cafes and buskers, plus some unusual "free public art" displays involving shoes - this appears to be an urban pastime in a lot of cities - before heading back over the footbridge towards home, grabbing the newspaper to settle in for a relaxing afternoon.
