Road Trip 1 - 22 January 2009 - Ballarat

Since moving to Victoria, we have done a bit of driving. On our first trip we ventured up to Bendigo and Ballarat stopping at Sovereign Hill where the old gold mining town has been recreated. We collected our specks of gold, panning in the "seeded" creek, we learned of the old ways of fashioning solid gold ingots, dipping candles and making rock candy. It was an extremely hot day and I wondered how the miners must have coped out here on days such as this.
